This scholarship is made available by the Environmental Education Foundation, Inc. The EEF is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of environmental education and /or the creation of awareness to environmental problems in the Geneva Lakes area. This is done primarily through the awarding of scholarships to local students.
Each year, the Thomas E. Reynolds, Sr. Endowment Fund (TER), founded in 1989, awards up to one $8000.00 scholarship to a senior graduating from each of the Geneva Area high schools: Badger High School, Big Foot High School, Williams Bay High School and Faith Christian School.
The objective of the Foundation scholarship program is to assist and encourage young people who demonstrate an interest in conservation, ecology, biology or other environmentally oriented fields of science. Candidates must be well qualified and registered at an accredited college or university. The students must be recommended by their school and are chosen by the TER Endowment scholarship committee. This scholarship awards $2000.00 annually, for four years, to students who maintain the required 3.0 grade point average while actively working toward a degree. Requirements and procedures are as follows.
- Good academic standing with a sincere interest in conservation, ecology, biology or other environmentally oriented field.
- Acceptance by an institution of higher education.
- Financial need will be considered if the student meets the first two criteria.
- The school scholarship committee is to receive applications and select two candidates. The school will then forward their recommendation to the Foundation for the final selection.
- Presentation of the award shall be made by a representative of the Environmental Education Foundation at the spring awards ceremony.
- The scholarship will be paid directly to the student's chosen college or university at the beginning of the first and second terms of the freshman year upon confirmation of the student's acceptance and completed registration.
