In 1980, the dream of two gentlemen to advance environmental awareness in the Geneva Lake area became a reality.
Mr. Thomas E. Reynolds, Sr. and Mr. Fillmore W. Galaty, both past presidents of the Geneva Lake Association, recognized an opportunity to promote environmental education by offering scholarships and environmental experiences to Geneva Lake area youth. Their dedication to area youth and environmental awareness led to the formation of the Geneva Lake Association Environmental Education Foundation, with Mr. Thomas Cashman as its first president. Now known as The Environmental Education Foundation, Inc., the EEF, is an independent, tax exempt 501(c) (3) affiliate of the Geneva Lake Association.
Thanks to the many local contributors who believe in environmental education, the Foundation has grown to annually award approximately $20,000.00 in scholarships and grants to students and graduates from our area, including, but not limited to, Badger High School, Big Foot High School, Williams Bay High School and Faith Christian High School. Included in this amount is the Environmental Education Foundation Thomas E. Reynolds Endowment Fund, created in 1989, which annually contributes $8000.00, in the form of a four year scholarship, to a local graduating senior interested in pursuing a degree in the environmental science field.
Since 1980, the Geneva Lake Association Environmental Education Foundation has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships and grants to local students pursuing environmental education studies.
